William W. DesChamps, III, known as “Trey” by his family, friends, and clients, has excelled in representing clients in commercial transactions, business disputes, and complex civil litigation matters since joining DesChamps Law Firm in August of 2009. During his first three years of practicing at DesChamps Law Firm, Trey successfully argued a case before the South Carolina Supreme Court and received a unanimous decision resulting in a published opinion.
Trey has successfully handled a wide variety of civil litigation matters during his career, including both jury and non-jury trials at the Circuit Court and District Court levels, and appeals before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and South Carolina Supreme Court. Trey focuses his practice on the areas of business and commercial law, construction and contract law, and related civil litigation matters. He routinely represents individuals, professionals, small and large business owners, banks, developers, owners, general contractors, and subcontractors in a number of matters ranging from drafting and negotiating security agreements, construction contracts, assets purchase agreements, and other contractual and transactional documents to representing clients in both jury and non-jury matters. Trey has represented clients in closings and other commercial transactions, and often provides general business advisory services to clients.
Before joining DesChamps Law Firm in August of 2009, Trey served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Steven H. John. Trey earned his Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law in May of 2008. He is the first graduate of the Charleston School of Law to successfully argue a case before the South Carolina Supreme Court, resulting in a unanimous decision and published opinion. Trey earned as B.S. degree in 2005 when he graduated from Clemson University and the Calhoun Honors College at Clemson University as a cum laude graduate.
Trey enjoys spending time with his family, coaching youth sports, and playing baseball with his son Rhett. He is an avid saltwater fisherman and enjoys the outdoors, especially the Waccamaw River.
